Archive for August, 2010

As you know in my last post I have found this Summer a pretty lame multiplex experience.  But there is a bright spot on the horizon.  Next week Machete is coming out and I can’t wait, though I will have to because a friend’s son is having his first birthday that weekend and somethings must take priority.  But the next weekend it is a definite go, I even have a free movie pass that I can use by then too, so it’s a win win.

Back when Robert Rodriguez and Quinten Taratino did Grindhouse and it opened with a fake trailer for Machete, I had always felt that it would make a better movie than the two that were actually in Grindhouse (though Rodriguez’s Planet of Terror was the better of the two and was pretty entertaining, but how could it not be when you have a stripper totting a machine gun pegleg).  Rodriguez must have thought so too because he has made the picture and if nothing else it will finally allow the awesome Danny Trejo to headline a movie.

Danny Trejo Rules!

A Lackluster Summer

i notice I haven’t been writing much these past few months and quite frankly, the reason is I felt like there has been much to write about.  The movies this blockbuster season have been a pretty dismal bunch.  I only saw three films this summer, The A-Team (mostly for nostalgia purposes), Dispicable Me (one of the best animated films yet) and Inception (which I have now seen twice).  Most everything else has held no interest for me, Salt seems like every other action film ever made, just with Angelina Jolie intead of Tom Cruise in the lead, The Other Guys looks like a typical Will Ferrell does over the top goofy stuff comedy, and well, the less said about The Last Airbender the better.  Not exactly a boon of popcorn entertainment.
