The more ads I see for Bruno, the more convinced I am that it will not do well at the box office, except for the die hard Cohen fans. There are two reasons for this. One, it is a rehash of Borat, a documentary style film is which Cohen acts outrageous to illicit reactions from people and then films it. The only difference this time is he playing a gay Austrian male supermodel. Which brings us to the other problem. Making fun of models was already done brilliantly by Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson in Zoolander. They effectively skewered the whole concept years ago, plus with reality shows like America’s Most Smartest Model, a fictional film that makes fun of them seems superfluous when you have shows making fun of real ones.
