I think so much changed during the 50s and 60s, that our parents' world seemed much farther away from us than the 80s seem to us now. I know the fact that we lived through the 80s makes a difference, but I still don't think the 80s look all that drastically different from today; at least not in the same way that the 40s looked compared to the 70s.
