It is a sad day today in Hollywood, former international sixties star turned character actor John Phillip Law passed away. Best known for playing the love sick Russian sailor in The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming and Angel in Barbarella; he had had a long a varied career that included Hurry Sundown, The Golden Voyage of Sinbad, and The Cassandra Crossing. In his later years he became a familiar face on such TV shows as The Love Boat, Murder She Wrote, and The Young and the Restless. But for me he will always be the super cool, leather clad, comic book inspired uber thief Diabolik in Mario Bava’s Danger: Diabolik! stealing fabulous jewels collections and gold shipments while making fools of both the Suerte and the French underworld. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

I was surfing around the SciFi.com website and came upon an article that has me a little worried. According to TheBadandUgly.com Will Smith is in New York shooting additional scenes for Hancock, which is set to release in less than six weeks. The rumor is that the film has already been submitted twice to the MPAA and come back both times with an R rating instead of the PG-13 rating the producers are wanting for a wider audience appeal. If true they are going to have to scramble to make that July 2nd release date. Here’s hoping they do, because let’s face it, it just isn’t a real Fourth of July weekend without a Will Smith blockbuster.
I just signed up on Social Spark, a new internet blogging community that allows you to meet new friends and earn a little money with your blog. What’s great about Social Spark is that you can blog about topics you are interested in and get paid for it, you can meet other people with similar interests and the social networking will help increase traffic on your site, while helping others increase traffic on theirs. I know what your thinking right now, that my blog is just going to become a corporate tool to promote various products that have nothing to do with my site. Nothing could be farther from the truth. One of things Social Spark promotes is honest opinions about what you are promoting, and negative opinions are not allowed.
And money isn’t the only thing that Social Spark offers, it offers a chance to meet other people who share your interests and want to talk about them. If you are into movies like I am or gardening like my wife The Patient One is, you go on the community board and type in the subject, then Bam! up comes a group of people who blog about the same thing and you make new friends who share your favorite activities and you get to help each other increase visitors to your blogs. It’s a win-win situation.
