Cloverfield opens today! Wooh! Wooh! I will not be seeing it, because unfortunately I have job (why could I not have been born of independantly wealthy parents like so many of the killers on Law and Order: Criminal Intent? Of course I’m not in prison for murder either so I guess it works out.) I have to wait for my next day off, Sunday, to see the movie. I will be going with a group of friends and then afterwards we’ll be playing a major session of DC Heroes. Now if I can just find where I put my character sheets.

Now that the Golden Globes hour long announcement fiasco is over, maybe Hollywood will buckle down and start real negotiations with the writers. I mean, honestly, did anyone really think that seeing someone announce the nominees and then the winners was going to garner any ratings. Didn’t they watch the People’s Choice Awards broadcast? Queen Latifia stood in front of a bank of monitors and ad libbed for an hour. It was excrutiating. She may be a great singer and actress, but improv is not her strong suit. I stopped watching after the third” Woo Woo!” If the Oscars want to have a telecast they are going to have to come to some kind of agreement with the writers, if for nothing else than to at least get celebs on the show as presenters without having to cross a picket line, like the Critics Choice Awards did.
We are into the final countdown to see just what the heck Cloverfield is. I don’t know about anyone else but I’m pretty psyched. I love a good monster movie, and the ads have done a good job of teasing the audience without showing anything. It is also becoming an internet phenomena of Snakes On a Plane size, let’s just hope the film can live up to the hype, unlike Snakes. Personally I’m more interested in seeing the new Star Trek trailer that will be shown before the movie. I don’t really care about the new Trek movie itself, but I’m still enough of a fan boy of the original series that I’m curious to see how the new cast compares to the old one.
